Thank you to all of our donors and our participants. In 2016, the Terry Fox Run Vietnam became the biggest international TFR in the world, attracting more than 19,500 participants and raising over 2 billion VND for cancer research in Vietnam.
In 2015, the Terry Fox Run organisers launched a 2 year project with the Terry Fox Foundation Project in Vietnam: Early Diagnosis of Oral Cancer in Vietnam. Oral cancer is among the most common cancers in Vietnam.
This project will be overseen by the Ho Chi Minh Oncology Hospital with connection to community health clinics by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, HCMC and screening team led and overseen by the Faculty of Dentistry and in collaboration with the University of British Columbia (UBC).
In 2016, a new initiative was begun with the University of Medicine and Pharmacology (UMP) in HCMC and the University of British Columbia (UBC) Medical in paediatric oncology, with support from the Terry Fox Run Vietnam and sanctioned by the Terry Fox Research Institute. The initiative will support a comprehensive two year paediatric oncology clinical Fellowship for a leading resident from HCMC Children’s Hospital Number 2, with the potential to expand the program to as many as four Fellows.
